Camo For NYE & The Holiday Series

This may be the only dance move I know, but I plan on using it and using it well come NYE! Or maybe not. Maybe I'll be a total bum and watch the peach drop (Georgia here) from the comfort of my living room. Some years I've been known to fall asleep before midnight (gasp!!). What can I say? I'm an early riser so I wind down fairly quickly. However, this year I plan on going the distance as I think of the rest of you fine people counting down with me!

In the meantime, Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood worked her tushy off to bring several other bloggers together in this episodic inspiration: The Holiday Series! Today we are down to the last post of the series which began with Thanksgiving, Black Friday, the Home Tour, Holiday Wedding looks,  Christmas day and now to NEW YEAR's Eve. The final post. What a pleasure it has been for me to get to know these other bloggers a little more. And I owe Ada a big thank you for pushing me beyond my normal blog routine and post type. (I never thought I'd do a Christmas Home tour - even a mini one!)

I also believe it goes without saying that seeing how other women style their day to day, as well as special events is 100% intriguing, or we wouldn't be here blogging would we?? What a silly thrill I find when I realize I have an accessory that will perfectly compliment my ensemble, especially when I can add the rare luxury of nail color to the scheme. SO FUN!! Us gals put thought, effort and sometimes sweat and tears (haha drama queen). But seriously though my gorgeous coated black jeans from WHBM won't button. They will not button and I planned to wear THEM. However, perhaps this setback will be used for good. Aka, these fun leggings!

So Now I'll halt my rambling as I don't want to bore you to tears. I love it when you visit and I want you to stay awhile. ;)

My 8 year old twins picked out these camo leggings for me as Christmas gift on their yearly shopping with "Pops and She-She" tradition. I can't tell you how cute it was to see them pleased as punch to see their mom sporting the gift they lovingly picked out. You better believe I'm cherishing this stage; almost to the point of crazy. Anyway, there is a store in the mall completely dedicated to leggings and that's where they picked up these perfect for the boy mom (of course perfect for anyone) camo.

Silver Fringe Earrings are by Premier Designs

From there I made a quick decision to reach for my white oxford again and finish it off with this black, drama sleeve cardigan from WHBM. This cardigan seems to have movement like a cascading waterfall, with flecks of silver that reflect light. Disco ball here I come.

The shoes are my go to black heel right now. They were $6 at a Chicos warehouse event I went to with a friend. $6.

This clutch is old. I don't remember who, what, where, when, why or how it came into my possession but I love it.  Confession, I am terrible about adding pursing (especially clutches) to my collection. I love them, but I don't like making a decision on which one to buy next. Thankfully, friends and family feel bad for me and gift them.

Alright! Seriously, I'll stop. You don't have time to read all this! And I hope you will take a few moments to check out what the other ladies are featuring for NYE. Thank you for stopping by. I love to hear from you!!

What are your New Year's Eve plans??

Much love,

Chrissy

Ada: "New Year's Eve is literally a few days away and I still have to finalize my plans, but no matter what I do I will settle for a girly+sexy silky camisole and a touch of leather and lace. I am loving this combination of burgundy with black - always a classic color pairing for Winter - and all the textures. Stop by the blog too, to see Vivian's own coordinated, matchy outfit. Happy 2018 and let it shine!!"

Monica: "Y'all it's almost 2018!  Are you excited, or is it just another year for you?  Regardless, Happy New Year!  I'm not one to make resolutions, but there are a few that I am making this year because I have a lot of stuff to do in the new year, so might as well set some resolutions with my life goals."

Chrissy: "Our NYE celebration changes each year. We may be gaming and setting off fireworks, chilling with friends or even falling asleep (gasp) on our own comfy sofa. I can’t remember the last time I rang in the new year with dancing, so I’m a little rusty but ready to give it a go this year!!"

Linda: "I found this skirt last year at Target after the holidays and it has been waiting in my closet for the perfect occasion. The sweater was an H&M sale also last year after the holidays.  Two random pieces waiting for the special event.  This year we are celebrating in Atlanta and heading to the Peach Bowl, leaving the snow and cold behind.  Happy New Year and all the best to everyone's families."

Kristin: "We're headed to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, to celebrate New Year's Eve this year and I'm so excited! Instead of a dress I'm going to be wearing this velvet bodysuit, skinny pants, and 'Happy New Year' headband. I can't wait to see everyone's looks!"

Shelbee: "I stay in every year for New Year's Eve, but that doesn't stop me from dressing up and celebrating the occasion.  This year I am giving the pajama/lingerie trend a try with this lacy burgundy and black dress layered under a black lace and velvet kimono.  Some fun patterned fish nets, patent leather booties in wine, and sparkly jewelry complete the look.  And if it really does look like pajamas, it doesn't much matter since I am not leaving my house! I wish you all many blessings in the New Year! "

Kellyann: "We spend NYE with our closest friends.  We make lots of yummy food, play games, and listen to music.  We've been doing this for years and we always have a great time.  While I want to look festive I also want to be comfortable so I chose my new sweatshirt and comfiest faux leather leggings.  Happy New Year to everyone!"

Lee: "New Years - "We aren't huge New Years Eve partiers. This year we will stay home and watch a movie like we do every year.  I am sharing a second way to style the leather front leggings.  Versatility is important to me when buying clothing."

Christine: "I like to keep my NYE outfit simple and effortless. Hubby and I go out dancing so I want to be sure I’m comfortable all night! This faux-leather leggings and metallic top are perfect to ring in the New Year in style!"

  1. I LOVE your camo leggings and how you styled them! Tell your twins they did an amazing job and they can shop for me ANYTIME. I just used your link and ordered that black cardi from WHBM - such a steal and FREE SHIPPING!!! Woo hoo! Okay, back to you. Love those $6 shoes, $6!!!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS, they are fantastic and so is that red clutch. Girl, these photos of you are beautiful too but I don't think it's possible for you to take a bad one.
And how about our sweet friend Ada who worked so hard on this series? That woman has some energy and creative vision. What a fun series and you're right, her prompts pushed me out of my comfort zone a bit too -in all the best ways.
I hope you're enjoying the week and I'm sure those cute boys are keeping you busy!

  3. I have a pair of camo pants and I hardly ever wear them, because I have so much trouble styling them and I feel like no-one wears camo here! Lol! BUT, I love this classy look and I'm going to try something similar!!

  6. Well Chrissy, dare I say THIS IS MY FAVORITE OUTFIT OF 2017 from you?! There, I said it! Seriously though you knocked it out of the park. Head to toe this is amazing and you are speaking my language with those 6$ black pumps. They are classic and sexy. I cannot believe that your 8-year old boys picked up those camo leggings, wow, they did an excellent job! I own some camo leggings but mine are very casual (a stretchy knit). Yours have a sheen to them and look like camo skinnies. You did a great job dressing them up and it looks like you had a lot of fun with your poses. I also love that you are loving one of my favorite brands - White House Black Market. Their sales are amazing as are their cardigans, bustiers, jeans, shoes, dresses and jewelry!

This has been such a fantastic series and I am glad you enjoyed it a lot and that I put you up to a challenge sometimes, like the Christmas home tour. Another outfit of yours that I loved was the Winter Wedding look. Your hair up with your curls looks amazing and you picked out the prettiest burgundy ruffled top. Thank you so much for being a part of this huge Holiday series collaboration, all your contributions, all the sweet words and compliments towards me (which I know that you totally meant) and for our awesome London Fog talk this morning. You are a gem and I am beyond happy and blessed to know you and call you my friend!

Cheers to a stylish, envelope-pushing, beautiful, rich-in-friends, blessed, healthy and very blog-successful (and beyond) New Year 2018!

    1. Sweet Ada, you made my day!! You deserved every compliment. I'm so glad you're pleased with the results from the collaborations. I'm quite sure this post wouldn't exist if it weren't for the series. We were so busy I had to break away and pester my hubby to take me down the road for these pics. lol.

Thank you for warmly welcoming me into this blogging community. I'm excited for what the future holds for us all! Happy New Year to you as well my friend!!

    1. Thank you Elise! I honestly think it was a GAP inspiration from one of their ads I saw on IG. The model had black, sparkly pants, heels a white top and a camo jacket. That and the fact that I couldn't fit into the black faux leather jeans I bought. :( Lol! Thank you for stopping by!! Love your style girl!
