Put a Little Grunge In Your Heart

Grunge: the fashion associated with grunge rock, including loose, layered clothing and ripped jeans.

Well, I'm not exactly full on grunge today but I see semblance to the once popular 90's trend with my ripped up jeans, edgy boots, and leather jacket. In all honestly this outfit was born out of a true desire to wear my favorite pair of ripped green jeans, but those wholes can make the legs quite cold. In comes the leggings.

After adding the white tee from the GAP (all those sales!!!) I knew I was going for my leather jacket.

"Chrissy, were you planning on going grunge? No, but why not?" (I always talk to myself.)

By the way, do you know what I love about this white tee? It has extra stretch, a curved hem and a cute little notch, making it a unique but perfect staple for my closet. I always need new white shirts.  Anyone else have trouble with their white shirts? Underarm stains (keeping it real here) are killing my budget!! Fill me in on you keeping your whites white secret!

Now the outfit was ready for accessories, which is my favorite. Cold and blanket scarves are matches maid in heaven and this one was a gift from my sister in law. It was high time I put it to use! I love how soft, warm and perfect the print/colors are.

Caught In the Blogging Act

Now what is that picture all about? Well, I was trying to get a few sneaky pictures in before folks started arriving at church. Caden was taking my pictures when I see a vehicle park and hear a familiar voice laughing as she hollered over to me.

"So that's how you get your pictures done! My day is made!!!

Ahem. I cleared my throat, swallowed my bashful I-just-got-caught-feelings and joined her in laughing. At least it was a friend, fright? Truth be told, I still feel self-concious when getting blog pictures and have left many great photo opps due to an overabundance of eyes looking on! This has to stop. Who cares, right? I'm here to get things done, trying to live my dreams! haha.

I insisted that she join my photoshoot. Pictures are always better with friends! Besides, isn't she adorable in her cute plaid, layered under her "thankful" sweatshirt and styled with those adorable duck boots?? She's gonna have my hide when she reads this but it's all true. She's adorable and I love her! ;)

You know what? I think I like pulling my friends into my blog life. ;) And how about you my friends, would you wear ripped up jeans and layer them with leggings or are you already rocking this look?? Pun intended!!

Until next time...

Chrissy

  2. Hahaha! Love this!! I always worry my neighbors are going to come out while I'm doing outfit photos. I know they've caught me many times, but I still get embarrassed! Love how you included her in the photo. This grunge look is perfect, I love that you added some plaid to it!

    1. Good to know I'm not alone! Some day I'm going to go to some blogger type gathering to learn a few things and be encouraged. So often I question myself as I post a picture of me on IG for all to see. Who would have thought this would be a thing??

  5. Grunge done right! I never got into it in the 90s but my son sure has! All of his clothes are ripped and he has a Nirvana shirt. I think I was too busy finishing graduate school, interning, and then working to participate in it back then but I do love my ripped jeans now.
Please share if you find out a good way to combat the yellow under arm stains. Those suckers ruin all my best blouses and shirts!
I am majorly self conscious about photos too. But you're right we need to get over it, we're realizing our dreams after all!
    Ha! Love ya girl!
